Welcome

This site is all about the original Lotus Elan. In fact my 1969 Series 4 SE Lotus Elan. I bought her about 6 years ago, she was a bit scruffy but I had a rolling resoration in mind. Each winter an improvement project takes place in my garage then I get to enjoy roof down driving in the summer. I do all the oily bits myself but I will not do any bodywork, this means a big bill is coming soon for a complete respray - ouch!

17 July 2009 - The End. Today I crashed my Elan in to a ditch and rolled it. I have no recallection of the incident but witnesses say I was avoiding a small deer or fox. Alas the Elan is a total write off but I escaped with minor injuries and concussion. My life was certainly saved by the fact that the Elan had the Spyder roll cage and a four point harness fitted. I know we all think it will never happen to us but alas it can. If you do not have any form of roll protection fitted may be now is the time as the screen frame offers no protection what so ever. I am now looking for a new toy but it will not be an other Elan.

11 June 2009 - The Club Lotus Track Day at Castle Coombe was great fun. I had a couple of good blasts around the track and met up with some fellow members of Lotus Elan dot Net. The Gallery has some new pictures. 

22 April 2009 - I have been out a few times now enjoying the great spring weather. Looking forwards to a long hot summer of top down motoring.

6 Jan 2009 - Had an other great run to Classic Le Mans in the summer plus numerous blatts about locally. Currently a bit behind on the winter maintenance schedule, I have not started yet! Nothing major to do this year, I was going to convert the headlamp pop up to electric motors but that will have to wait now. I have just received some new top rear spring platforms from The Elan Factory to replace the rather fragile pressed steel items currently fitted.

29 June 2008 - Had a pair of Strombergs refurbished by Burlen. Finally managed to find time to fit them. A great improvement as tickover is now much more stable and they look nice and shiny.

2 May 2008 - Advance curve spreadsheet added to Distributor 

16 Apr 2008 - Ancillaries updated. 

1 Apr 2008 - Distributor project now complete. First run out this year and the Elan is going great. 

3 Dec 2007 - Distributor Project updated 

26 Sept 2007 - New electronic distributor has now been purchased, follow project Distributor

11 Sept 2007 - The head gasket blew during a track day. Replaced it with composite one which should take more abuse. During reassembly I noticed a large crack in the distributor body, Thus I am currently investigating replacement options; more details on this soon.
